Land Rover Repair: Rover Disco 97 D1 Cruise Control, vacuum hoses, electrical troubleshooting

Question
The cruise control isn't working on our 1997 Disco & we've tried everything we know.  We've replaced the module, the pump & the brake pedal switch.  We have NOT removed the steering wheel or checked out the transmission.  We're at a loss.  Please advise.  I do love my cruise control & I miss my Disco!  Thanks in advance!

Answer
The most common problem is broken vacuum hoses on the engine.  Did you check for that?  Sometimes you have problems with the wiring to the steering wheel.  You can go to www.landrovertechinfo.com and subscribe for a day to get an electrical troubleshooting manual that will tell you where to test those signals under the dash.
