Land Rover Repair: 95 Disco with the leans, support brackets, wd 40

Question
John,

First of all, thanks for doing such a great job!  I can't begin to tell you how much money you have saved me in the past!  Here is a new one...my 95 Disco leans to the right.  If you were to imagine loading the right side of the car down...less clearance between the right wheel wells and the tires etc.  Have I just blown the shocks on the right side or is there something else?  The car has 105K miles on it, and I bought it used...don't know when the shocks were replaced.

Answer
Hi Wes,

glad I can help.  Sounds like a bad shock.  If they are originals its overdue.  If you're not sure...change them all!  I just bought Monroe for my '95 and save a bundle.  There easy to change and I sure you can do this yourself...just soak all the bolts with liquid wrench or WD-40 for 24hrs before trying to remove them.  I'm sure they'll be easier to remove if you do this beforehand.

Check to make sure the coil spring is ok. The support brackets should have no cracks.  I once had a coil smash thru the upper bracket...nasty off-road accident...and a headache to repair.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
