Land Rover Repair: What does a Discovery 1995 need to pass an MOT, mechanical faults, chevy venture

Question
Hi John,
By the way, managed to bleed fuel system eventually, took a long time though.

Any way, the discovery i have had has been on my farm for 3 years and has not been on the road since. But i need to sell it, but it has not had an MOT since 2002 January. What things can i check before it goes in for its MOT so it can hopefully pass it. As far as i now, nothing is wrong with it and there are no mechanical faults. Is there anything i need to look out for.

Thanks alot in advance,

Simon

Answer
Hi Simon,

I'm glad you finally bled the fuel line...it's a tedious task to perform.

As for MOT criteria...depends on which country. I lived in Boston, MA and the tests (IMO) were (at that time) subject to the service centres computer setup.  I found it difficult to understand that my 2 year old Buick could fail an emissions test....UNTIL I watched the service technician (who probably sold chips the week before) key in the wrong data (V6 Chevy Venture).

With that off my chest...

tires, brakes, lights and emissions are the usual suspects.  Most countries, provinces and states have websites to describe what is tested and what is expected to pass.

New fuel and air filters, spark plugs, wires usually help.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
