Land Rover Repair: 2000 Land Rover P0174,171,301,734,1319, land rover discovery, obd ii

Question
This is a 2000 Land Rover Discovery II.  OBD II light is on.  I'm getting the following codes P0171, P0174, P0301, P0734, P1319.  The light has been on for about 3 months.  Just recently it started running rough.  Any ideas on what should be fixed?

Answer
Hi Jake,

wow! what a list of codes!

Here's a website that can decipher them for you:

Equus makes a great OBDII reader and offers this website as a free service.

Looks like you've got multiple misfires during 4th gear...maybe?

Could be the sticking exhaust valve coming to haunt your Series II engine...carbon deposits form on the exhaust valves and they don't firmly sit.  I think a cyclinder pressure test can reveal this.  Best to have LR diagnose this to be sure.

From where I sit, it has to be ignition or exhaust related...which makes me think about the valve problems some Disco II owners are having.

Misfires, stumbles, hesitation, loss of power, especially on hills or hot, humid days.  Cure:  valve job.  ~$2500US

Best of luck,
