Land Rover Repair: Land Rover Disco Camber., land rover owners, wheel bearings

Question
John,

I have recently joined the ranks of pround Land Rover owners.  I purchased a '96 Disco Series 1 in need of a little TLC.

One of the major problems is the camber on one of the front wheels is off.  To my understanding, this is not adjustable on the Land Rovers.  I am planning to take it apart to see what bent, but I am wondering if there is anything in particular I need to watch for that might be specific to Land Rovers that I might not think of.

Thanks a bunch!

Sincerely,
Jason Jeffers

Answer
Hi Jason,

that's right. It's a solid axle and so castor angle and camber angle are not adjustable.  Only the toe is adjustable.

I'd check for worn swivel bearings and while your're at it, replace the wheel bearings, just in case.  The swivel bearings are most commonly the fault here.

Best of luck,
