Land Rover Repair: Freelander ABS problem, problem thanks, braking system

Question
My freelander 1998 petrol model has the ABS and Traction lights on when i drive. although the brakes do work. Is this the same as the problem i have seen you mention with the disco models. it came on after i had blew a gasket and to get home i would turn the engine off, coast, and then let my foot of the clutch in gear to start the engine again. obviously i was jerking the engine a bit. has this caused the problem?? thanks
SIMON

Answer
Hi Simon,

my first reaction is to say "No", the gasket problem you describe should not have caused the ABS and TC lights to appear.  However, if you abused the braking system in some way, its possible that the ABS modulator may have some faults.  You'll have to have this examined to see if any leaks developed.

From what I can gather from other Freelander owners, your vehicle is subject to the same ABS, TC problems as the Disco.

Best of luck,
