Land Rover Repair: Water swishing in the roof, technical datasheets, water leaks

Question
Turning and accelerating leads to a water-in-motion sound on the passenger's side, and the right front roof post. A leak at the driver's visor occured, too. How do i drain this and how do I patch it? I have two sunroofs in my Discovery II. Is there a drain somewhere?

Answer
Hi John,

yes, I believe there is a drain funnel for the sunroofs.  Here is a website that has technical datasheets from LandRover about water ingress:

This page can also take you to a LR forum where more details about water ingress can be found.

Water leaks are common to the Disco.  I've had to reseal my windshield and drill some holes in the engine compartment to allow water to drain away.  It has not prevented leaks from other areas but it has reduce the amount of water that works its way into the footwell area of my Disco.

Open your hood and see if water is pooling just below the windshield.  If so, you too may have to drill holes to maximize the drainage.  Be careful where you drill and make sure the water is going to drip away from any electronics.

Best of luck with this,

JohnMc
