Land Rover Repair: 1998 Discovery Vibration, exhaust valves, fire code

Question
Hello Thanks for reading my situation. Took my disco in for drivers side manifold repair(exhaust). While it was there I told them it had a slight vibration around 1500rpms to 2000rpms pending on where the shift was. They put it on thier computer and said it had a mis fire code. So they really could not say what was wrong. So I changed the fuel filter, the spark plugs, wires and ran techtron fuel system cleaner through checked all vaccuum lines no splits or cracks. No change. Could a sticky exhaust value be the trouble? This has 108K. Could I be sensing a transmisson vibration. Really confused Ken PS Could I be A coil?

Answer
Hi Ken,

I know this is a duplicate question and response.  I'll add that those Disco's with 4.2 and 4.6 engines are prone to buildup on the exhaust valves and usually require valve jobs every 50,000 miles or so.  3.9l engines don't have this problem.

It could be your tranny.  You may need to have it tested by an expert.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
