Land Rover Repair: 99 Land Rover side view mirror, labour charge, screw driver

Question
The right side view mirror (the mirror itself, not the assembly) on my 99 Land Rover is loose. How do I fix it? The left side of the mirror is still attached to the underlying part, the right side can be pulled forward.
Thanks,

Peter

Answer
Hi Peter,

here is what I've found for you:

By the sounds of it, you may have to remove the entire mirror and reseat it.  There is a plastic ring sitting on the front of the motor housing. Prise it off with a flat screw-driver.  Its just clipped on BUT BE CAREFUL! I may be brittle and depending on its age, it could break. When it is off you will see how it fixes to the back of the mirror, so clip it on. Then simply push it and the mirror together back into place.

Apparently, this is the only way to do it. Be careful.  It could break. My advice is to buy new rings as well with the new glass.  You can always ask a LR dealer to adjust this for you...less than 1 hour labour charge and no worry about breaking it!

Best of luck,

JohnMc
