Lexus Repair: Idle problems, air control valve, jp importz

Hi Jason,
I have a 1997 ES 300 w/around 134,000 miles. I have been have problems while at an idle, it normally happens about once a week (for about five months now) the RPM's will rise & fall and it died once at a stop light. I had a tune-up & the throttle cleaned but it didn't help. I don't have any service lights so I can't get a diagostic read. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your response.

Hello Pamela,
 I would take a look at your IAC(Idle Air control valve). Located by the throttle body.  Remove the unit and give it a good clean with brake clean and reassemble unit.  If cleaning doesn't fix your problem, I would replace it with a new unit.  Happy Thanksgiving.
