Lexus Repair: 2000 rx300 timing belt, lexus toyota, jp importz

I just bought a 2000 rx300 awd w/ 92000 mi. The manual suggests a 90k service that includes the timing belt. The dealer wants $1300 for this service or 500 for the belt replacement alone. Is it necessary to replace the t-belt now? Also, is it too difficult for a shadetree mech?

  Congrats on the lexus.  Is the $1300 include cam, crank seals, drivebelts, uppper and idler pullies? Usually Lexus Independent shop would charge around $900 for something like this. I would take this job to a Lexus Independent shop.
