Lexus Repair: 99 Lexus transmission, lexus rx300, jp importz

My 99 Lexus Rx300 with 140,000 miles is very slow to shift when it is cold.  It takes about a block to shift out of first, and up to 1/2 mile to shift out of 2nd.  While it is not shifting, there is a whine, that quits when if finally warms up and shifts.  Also the D on the dash does not light up.  Any ideas?

Hello Tom,
  You will have to replae the bulb the "D" indicator on your dash.  Look like your transmission is on it's way out. Make sure to change your transmission fluid every 15k miles.  Have a transmission shop to take a look.  Good luck sir.
