Question
QUESTION: my daugther lost the keys to her 1990 town car and someone tried to drill out the cylinder but to no advile now the cylinder is totaly trashed any suggesstion on how to get the cylinder out to put a new one in

ANSWER: Its hard to say without seeing it, but if you can get the cylinder to turn to the on position, push the pin in the lower half of the column with a pick or really small screwdriver. This unlocks the cylinder from the column where it can be replaced.

QUESTION: unable to use key ,cylinder is to damaged .they tried drilling out the cylinder and the lock pin.i have tried everything i can think of to fix this but nothing yet the only thing i can think of doing is to replace the assembly where the cylinder, steering wheel lock and shift lever goes but not sure how or if you can plus we were told that you cant drill out cylinder because it has hardened steel plates on the inside to keep people from drilling out the cylinder. i am stumped to no end any help would be great thank you

Answer
Well, at this point if you can't get it out you'll have to replace the column. With that in mind, even if you butcher the thing worse now.......your no worse than you were a day ago. Anyway try to borrow a slide hammer. Using a hardened drill bit, drill a good hole so you can screw the end of the slide hammer into and Yank away. Just pretend your a report Guy! ;)
