ANSWER: have the floor inspected for a hole are the heater core is leaking those are the main reasons you'd have water near your feet

QUESTION: how would i go about checking out the heater core.could it be possable water may e coming thru the fire wall somewhere?

ANSWER: with the heater core leaking you'd notice your radiator being low with coolant and smell a sweet smell in the car it is posible that it's from the fire wall but you'd probly notice a hole big enough to let water in when it rains seeing as the hood covers it that's why i'm thinking more to the floor. you can try deplicating the problem by using a hose and spraying it chances are if there's water coming in when the car is hosed down and parked it's running down and through the fire wall if there's no water coming in it's probly a problem with the floor

QUESTION: yea its definitely coming in from behind/above the clutch peddle and only when it rains the radiator water/fluid is ok. will i need to pull the dash etc apart to check in behind or can i come in thru the engine bay

Answer
it would more then likely be coming in through the engine bay fire wall if it's not leaking around the botom of the winshield visually look for holes/rust spots and missing rubber gramets that cover hoses and wires coming into the vihicle from the engine and thing of that nature may cause a leak
