Mazda Repair: 2002 mazda 626 front end noise, wheel drive cars, front wheel drive cars

Question
i bought my 626 used, i notice weird cloacking noise especialy noticeable when tapping on the gas from a stop, pressing down on gas makes little noise release the gas pedal make the most noise. it sounds like it came from either the inner drive axle (differential) or the engine/transaxle mount i read that mazda car has many transmisson problem, hope thats not the case. anyway whenever days gets hot noise is gone, i notice whenever the temperture is 70 or more degrees, i dont hear any noise, the higher the temperture, the less noise thats weird.  please help

Answer
There are other possible causes, but a bad mount is by far the most likely cause. Worn motor and transmission mounts will often make more noise when it is cold.

It is odd that a 5 year old car would need to have the mounts replaced so soon. However, front wheel drive cars with automatics do sometimes suffer from premature motor and transmission mount failure. If the driver backs up and then shifts into drive while the car is still rolling, the mounts will fail early. Doing this with a standard transmission does not have the same effect.
