Nissan Repair: Murano YM05, mile warranty, variable transmission

Hi Von, since last cpl of months i was feeling a roughness while drivibg my Murano..today while driving back from work the car stopped on the road..while accelerating the rpm goes up but the car doesnt move and it produces a noise (same noise if huge volume of air is released) and when the gear is put on P i felt some string is getting stretched kind of noise..I would appreciate if you could advice me the real issue as tomorrow I hv to tow the car to the garage..thanks,Raj

Sorry for taking so long to answer the question.  I drove from Florida to Las Vegas after flying to Florida from Las Vegas.  

I would say the constantly variable transmission has broken.  In the United States Nissan provides a 100,000 mile warranty for this kind of transmission.  I know it is five years old but Nissan should be able to do something for you.
