Mazda Repair: Mazda MPV 1994, mazda mpv, engine cranks

Question
My mazda is dead!  Recently my car is having trouble with the engine turning over.  My dashboard is completly on good power.  I thought the first three times it happen was because the gas gauge is broken and the car was out of gas.  Now it would start at all.

Answer
So does the engine crank but not start, or does the engine not even crank.

If the engine cranks but does not start, then you either have an ignition issue or a fuel delivery issue. You can check for ignition by pulling a spark plug wire and inserting a screw driver into it. Place the metal part of the screw driver about 1/4 inch from a good ground and crank the motor. If there is a visible spark, then you probably do not have an ignition problem.

With a fuel injected motor like this one, there should be a schrader valve on the fuel line in the engine compartment. You should use a pressure tester to determine whether or not you have fuel pressure. If you have fuel pressure of 35psi or greater, then you probably do not have a fuel delivery problem.

If you perform these two tests and are still unable to diagnose the problem, feel free to check back for help.
