Mazda Repair: mazda rx7 overheating, water seals, rx 7

Question
Al,

I have a 1986 Mazda RX7 with a rotary engine that overheats.  We put in a new thermostat and radiator and there is no leak.  It doesn't overheat all the time just occasionally. When you run the car without the thermostat it never overheats.

What do you think the problem might be.

Ron

Answer
first thing i would check is, is all the air out of the system, is the waterpump ok, fan cluch working properly,  when it starts over heating is the fan cluch kicking in? let me know and if you still cant find anything i'll ask my rx-7 expert, just talked to my rx-7 guy,  he's saying the water seals are bad,  going to need to rebuild the motor
