Mazda Repair: Aternator installation and removal, mazda protege, altenator

Question
Hey Chris,
I am looking to remove my old alternator and put in a new one.  My car is a 2001 Mazda Protege 1.6. I know that it is not too difficult to do, but I would like to have some solid directions on how to do the removal and installation.  The new alternator will just be pulled off of another mazda.  So I don't think that it will be refurbished or anything like that.

Thanks,
Jon

Answer
Hi Johnathan thanks for asking.
These alternators are fairly easy to replacehere are the steps you have to follw-disconnect the battery
-remove the accesory drive belt for the alternator
-loosen off the top 14 or 12 mm nut on the top of the alterbator
-wind back the adjustment bolt untill belt comes off
take the nut out for adjuster
- from under the vehicle disconnect the power wire to the alternator (usualy 12mm nut)
-remove 14 mm long bolt from alternator from back side of alternator under the vehicl.
-wiggle out the altenator.
-And to install do this in the reverse order.
Good Luck
