Mercedes Benz repair: timing belt, compression stroke, toyota supra

Question
QUESTION: hi. I'm curious of what's wrong with my car. I've done a timing belt change. I followed what the book said. I had the crankshaft to 0 align with the mark on the timing cover on the compression stroke. my two camshaft I aligned it  by the dot on each one to the mark on the plate according to the book. I had the distributor rotor  pointing to the number 1 plug. all my belt are tight enough. no slack at all. tighten the tensioner. crank it a couple times with plug not connected to coil. rechecked the belt. looks gud. connected everything back. when I start it I kicks right up. I let it warm up and when I hook up the timing gun to check its  past 15degrees and that max for this engine. It looks like it points to 16 or 17 degrees. the idle is at 750-800 that's normal. all vaccum lines connected. I adjusted the distributor and its as low as it can get. the mark goes to between 5 to 10 degrees but now there's no power at all when trying to move car. I set it back to normal which was 16 or 17degrees and when I drive the car it has power but when I rev pass 3000rpm there's knocking. go back below 3000 no knocking.  I've redone my timing again and again played with a lot of different option but still  can't get it to sit at 0 degrees while having power. pull my distrubutor out play with it still the same always. why is it staying pass 15 degrees. is the engine mess up internally or crankshalf bad.? I don't want to drive the car that way cause it sounds like something will  break.. please help I'm desperate to fixing these problem.  thank you

QUESTION: I'm gonna be honest but my car is a japanese car. toyota supra.  I've been waiting for weeks now to get to ask the expert on that field but their always max out. I tried lexus but their on vacation. I can't seem to get to ask my question. I ask you cause my dad has a benz an 88 or 89 can't recall and it has a distributor also and I figure they will all have somewhat the same configuration on setting tdc and timing procedure. I appreciate anything you can give me from experience. I understand its not a benz but your info can make me lower my chances in figuring what's wrong with my car.

ANSWER: Ok .
Now we have it.
Give me the year and model and the engine and a fax number and I will see if I can get you a detailed instruction. I really do not see why you would have had to remove the distributor. But I will help you get this thing running

P?S Benz does not have a timing belt (Chain) More durable.
Note: Also need to know if the timing belt went out on you or are you just replacing it as a scheduled maintanance?
