Mercedes Benz repair: s500 front brake replacement, hex bolts, side tabs

Question
How do you replace the front brake pads on a 2003 s500? Remove the two caliper bolts or all the hex bolts? Please give as much instructions as possible thinks?

Answer
The easiest way to do this repair is as follows:

Attach a hose connected to a plastic bottle to the bleeder screw, then crack open the bleeder screw a couple turns.

Using a screwdriver, place between brake pad and rotor and push the pad all the way into the caliper.

Hold the pad (with the screwdriver) all the way open and tighten the bleeder screw.

Then remove the caliper

remove old brake pads and brake wear indicators (if epuipped)

apply lubricant to the back and to the side tabs of new brake pads

using a file, make a quick pass against the sharp edges of the new brake pads (this is not mandatory but will reduce the chance of having any new brake squeak)

insert new pads and brake wear indicators into caliper

reinstall caliper

reinstall wheels

turn on vehicle and depress brake pedal a few times until pedal becomes stiff and feels normal

top off brake fluid

perform test drive and your done
