Mercedes Benz repair: C230 Brakes - regular service, german car service, gm cars

Question
I have a 2002 C230, and the computer is telling me it's time for my regular brake service, the pads are worn. This is the first foreign can I've owned, but I've changed the brake pads on GM cars before.
Is there anything special about MB brakes? Is it something I need to take to the dealership or a German Car service center?
Thanks so much..
Nicole

Answer
Absolutely nothing special at all. You will find that brake jobs on mercedes are easier than any other car. Important Note: Make sure to use OEM Mercedes Benz brake parts, if you use aftermarket parts then you will be replacing them again very soon.
Also, make sure to lubricate the back of the pads and the sliders. Another tip is to take a hand file and go over the edge of the new pads to take the sharp edge off of them, that will eliminate any brake squeak from new pads.
The last thing is to make sure that you get new brake pad sensors with your pads. They are simple to install as you will see when you remove the old ones from your car. Make sure you lubricate the electral plug at the end of the sensor so the next guy who replaces them can get them out with ease as well.
