Mercedes Benz repair: Trans/suspension, pitman arm, wheel bearings

Question
1984 380se   AT park->reverse->drive--hard shift at stop,  ON road, soft shift from 1st to 2nd with a one to two second pause.  I plan to replace the Modulator...in your opinion will this fix the problem.

Suspension, Old tires, at 50-60 I have a vicious shudder that settles when speed is reduced to 35/45.  I found a blown tie rod end and replaced and a worthless steering damper that I also replaced along with drv side wheel bearings. I have little more than a millimeter play in the pitman arm. and soon I will replace the tires and if shudder remain I will go after the ball joints. Are there any other possiblities YOu are reminded of? As well, I have been told I can adjust the P/S steering gear box as well to remove loose steer.  but I have know Idea of the location of the adjustment points.  Your help would be appreciated.

Tires or bent rims are the prime cause of this type of issue.

However, the tire issues can be caused by ball joints, tie rods, center link, etc.

Here is a link that should help you.
