Mercedes Benz repair: transmission code tripping service engine light, continental imports, fuel gauge

Question
1994 Mercedes, C280, 104,975 in Wichita, Kansas.  I had to have transmission work done a year ago, since then I've had the "service engine" light come on.  It always come on when I first start the engine (usually after sitting for awhile).  When I have the code read, it is always the same transmission code P1700.  The transmission guy tells me there is nothing wrong with the transmission.  The dealership guy (not a Merceded dealer) where I purchased the car 3 years ago - also tells me there is nothing wrong the transmission.  The dealership guy thinks maybe it is a "slow solenoid" somewhere?

For the past year, this code has had to be cleared about 5-6 times.  But the car runs great - never any problem with the transmission or engine running.

What could this problem be?   The fuel gauge is not working properly (sometimes it just doesn't jump up to the fuel amount when I start the car but then it eventually jumps up).  Lately this has not even be registering any fuel level - but I know there is fuel because I keep the tank full and I watch my mileage.    Could this be related to the transmission code tripping the "service engine" light?

Whatever help you could give me would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Answer
Answer:

P1700 = Up-shift Delay Switchover Valve ( Logic Chain ).
Take it to your local MB dealer.

Search on the page for codes P1700 and P1701

Have them check the fuel gauge, it may be a corroded ground.
