Question - There must be some trick to getting the black plastic inserts around the door opening handle and the window switch to come out other than just prying them out with something. I have tried using putty knives and wide bladed screw drivers but I'm quit sure if I use any more force the plastic pieces are going to break. Are there more screws holding the arm rest in place behind the black plastic insert around the door opening handle? Something is holding the arm rest in place.
How can I remove the inside door panel on a 1989 300 SEL without doing damage? My power window actuation mechanism has come loose from the window. I have removed all the screws and trim pieces. Can the panel be pried off starting from the bottom? Is the panel held in place by clips that can be pried loose? I do not have a repair manual for this car and need to get it fixed if possible before 04/02/2006 or I will have to do the large garbage bag over the door routine to keep the wind and rain out.
