QuestionHi, I just bought an 87 MB 300E. It seems to run great, everything works fine. The engine has minor vibration when I stop at a light. I'm thinking motor mounts need replacement. The gas pedal feels kind of hard, can this be fixed? The only thing that does not function is the mileage reader. I assume the cable broke and needs replacement. I asked the guy I bought it from if he had changed the timing belt, but he said MB don't need to have them replaced, is this correct? or should I go ahead a have someone replace it. The car stopped counting miles at 127000 +, should have about 140,000 by now. Any other suggestions as to what else to have replaced, or inspected? I'm on a budget. Thanks in advance
AnswerReplace the engine mounts.
Lubricate all ball/sockets in the throttle linkage.
At 150000 miles the valve guides should be worn out, the timing chain, and guides should be replaced soon, if you plan to keep the car.
