Mercedes Benz repair: Reving on idle, lethargic response, mercedes benz models, mercedes benz cars

I just replaced my 1966 150 SE cabriolet, which got totaled in a crash, with another.  This one revs when idling (not in gear) and also seems very sluggish when starting from a dead stop.  It seems to me like it is starting in 2nd gear (it is automatic).  Is that possible?  Any explanation for the reving?

Sorry, not east coast, but possible shop list follows.
Transmission sounds like possible bad vacuum modulator.

Possible:
#1. Throttle linkage.
#2. Ignition problem.
#3. Carburetor problem.
#4. Timing slop.
