Hi, it is a california model, is that why I cant find my banjo bolt? Can bad compression cause this?
Answer -
That is correct.
The fitting for a 1985 California 300SD is on the driver side of engine intake manifold, middle of manifold, points directly to the driver fender, and is NOT a banjo, it is a normal brass fitting with a rubber hose going to the
crossover valve, and from the crossover valve to ALDA.
Clean all hoses, fittings and replace the crossover valve.

Which TRAP catalyst do you have?
#1. A large foot ball above and behind the turbo?
#2. Under the car it looks like a gas car catalyst?

If #2. when was it replaced?

The car is a 1983, is that different then a 1985, because I cant find the brass fitting on the intake manifold. Actually, I dont even know where the intake manifold is on this car. I just looked everywhere for a brass fitting with a hose pointed towards the driver side fender. It snowed heavy today, so I will get back to you on the TRAP.. Thank you

Answer
1983 300SD does not have a TRAP.
