Mercedes Benz repair: Transmission, rear caliper, rear rotors

Question
I have 1995 Mercedes SL 500 Roadster. Making a lot of noise when backing up and feels like something is holding the car from backing up. This happens only when gear is swithed to reverse. What is the problem ?

Since this is a convertible I need something to take off or put on the roof so I can do this by myself without the help of other people because the roof/top is very heavy.
Thanks,

Answer
An engine hoist with a cloth sling works for installing or removing the hard top, but it takes planning and skill to not damage things.
Practice with an assistant, before you try it alone.
You can make your own sling, or a tarp maker can do it for you, be sure to use padding, sheep skin works to protect the paint.
An engine hoist needs to be tall, with a long reach for this job.

RE: noise while backing up.
Possible jammed parking brake cables or heavy corrosion of parking brake and rotor.
Remove rear rotors and inspect.

It is also possible that a rear caliper is seized.
