Hello Tim,

I want to thank you and all the AllExperts team for this great site, I have an MB E230 84, the fuel tank did received an considerable ammout of WATER!, the (BOSCH, that sounds like a giant Queen bee) fuel pump now works to extremely lower RPM's, sounds like 60Hz humm, I removed the pump, the pump does not move any fluid, I cleaned it without success, is something blocking it?, is damaged because the water?

also, the fuel injection system has no fuel inside, there are more consequences after only replace the pump?

before that all whole inside the passengers area quite smells like fresh gasoline, is there a leak?

I truly appreciate your experience.

Best wishes

Erick.

Most likely it is damaged from the water and must be replaced. You should probably have the tank drained and cleaned before installing a new pump

Answer
The injection system will be effected if there is water present. I would use a good fuel conditioner like Red Line. I think they are on the Web.
Do not remove the thermostat. It will create problems. You can replace the old one with a lower temperature say 160 degrees rather than 180 degrees. If you ever need parts call this fellow he is the best in the business, Gary Braun 888-495-4075
