Mercedes Benz repair: 1997 Sl 500 Brake problem, brake rotars, emergency brakes

Question
A few months ago, as car was reversing, the rear-brakes completely locked. They eventually un-stuck and I continued
to the drive the car. Recently, I've discovered that the rear brakes aren't working at all. The emergency hand-brake
works perfectly but the rear brake rotars aren't functioning whatsoever. There is an ABS light on the dash but it has not come on. Just prior to the lock-up, the rear
rotars had been cleaned with a rust removal solution but not removed from the car.

Thanks

Answer
Greetings and thanks for your question.
The rust removal solvent should be removed from the brakes completely and washed with a good brake parts cleaner.
The rear brakes will lock as the rust inhibitor will get hot and possibly catch on fire and or cause brakes to lock intermittently
The emergency brakes will still work but may not be sufficient to hold the car as good as it should.
When usung solvent always use a good brake parts cleaner as it will evaporate and not make any parts stick.
Thanks and i hope this helps you!
