MG Car Repair: Handbrake 1951 MG TD, handbrake cable, grease fittings

Question
Hello Brian, the handbrake of my mG TD does not work properly, it only operates in one of the rear wheels (passenger side). Can you indicate me how to check what the problem is?
Thank you and best regards

Answer
Hi!
Could be a couple of things. First each handbrake cable is adjusted at the bottom of the handbrake handle with a nut. Each cable is attached to an equalizing bar at that location. Another thing is to make sure the offending cable is not seized up (rusted)- check the whole length. Some cables have grease fittings, though I do not believe the originals did. So, check the front and rear attachment points, check the cable itself (could be broken as well), and check the adjustment at the equalizing bar. You will find the problem.

Hope this helps,
Brian
