battery box behind seat is one side open or does it have a bolt in panel?

Hi Rick.  The 65 MGB has two 6-volt batteries.  Basically these batteries sit in open cradles on either side of the transmission tunnel.  there are no bolt-in panels, just the tunnel, the rear bulkhead, and the inner wings.

If you are worried about dirt, Moss motors do sell plastic bins that fit inside the bins to keep the batteries clean.
