MG Car Repair: MG Midget Rear Brake cyl clip, straight blade screwdriver, channel lock pliers

Question
Thanks for taking my question. I have a 1976 MG Midget and am trying to install the clip to the back of the rear brake cylinder. There must be a nack and I can not get the clip in. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Doug,

I do remember them being a pain. As I remember I would just force it in enough to get it started and then I think I used a straight blade screwdriver as a punch and bumped it the rest of the way on with a hammer on the screwdriver. Later I bought a very large pair of channel lock pliers that worked well. If the factory workers had a special tool, I never seen one and I worked in several MG dealerships back then.
