MG Car Repair: MG Battery Replacement, replacement battery, battery replacement

Question
The walls of the battery well in my MG have bowed inward making it impossible to put in the replacement battery.
Is there an easy fix for returning the walls to their original shape or getting the battery in the well?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Al
I have never heard of this before.  Why did the walls bow inward?  It sounds to me as though the replacement battery is fatter than the one that came out.  Perhaps you have bought the wrong battery.

If you are sure that this is just a matter of returning the walls of the battery well to their original shape, then you need a scissors jack.  Perhaps your every-day car has a suitable jack, or you can borrow one from a neighbour.  Cut two squares plywood, position one square each side of the battery well, then expand a scissors jack between them.  That should push the sides out.
