MG Car Repair: MG TD wont start., mg td, tank drain

Question
I inherited my dad's 1950 MG TD.  The car has not run for over four years. When I tried to start it would not fire. Their is a new fuel pump and new plugs installed.  Their seems to be spark getting the spark plugs. The plugs seem to foul up. when I turn over the motor. I was wondering if the carburators could be the problem. Battery is new and a new starter was added becaus the starter failed. Any information to get this MG going would be appreciated. The vehicule was made for USA.

thanks in advance

Pete

Answer
Hi Pierre.  It sounds like stale fuel to me.  All you need is air, a spark, and petrol (gasolene).  There is a drain plug underneath the petrol tank.  Drain the fuel tank and dispose of the old fuel, then put some fresh fuel in the tank.  It should start.
