MG Car Repair: 76 midget with wheels that wont spin, clutch plate, clutch master

Question
Hello! We have a 76 Mg Midget set up on jacks that we just got to start. Now one of our problems is the wheels aren't spinning when the car is in gear. He's going to check the clutch master, are there any other suggestions you might have? Thank you for your time :-)

Answer
Hi Stephanie
This is most strange.  Normally, the clutch plate sticks to the flywheel and you cannot stop the rear wheels from spinning.  The only thing I can think of is that the clutch is permanently disengaged.

This could happen if the master cylinder had a fault, or the slave cylinder, or possibly a collapsed flexible hose is acting like a one-way valve, allowing fluid to disengage the clutch but not allowing the pressure to be released.

I would try bleeding the pressure from the bleed nipple attached to the slave cylinder.  Then re-start the car, in gear, without touching the clutch pedal.
