Motorcycle Repair: yamaha XT 350 1992, yamaha xt 350, blown fuse

Question
I am trying to help a friend figure out why none of the blinkers work on his 1992 Yamaha XT 350.
We have tried tracing the wires back.  We do not have a repair manual.  If I send a hot wire to the blinker individually it lights up.  I do not know where the location is for the blinker relay.  There could have been a short on one of the hot wires going to the rear blinker which could have fried something.  Thankyou very much for your help.  Steve

Answer
Hi Steven,

I don't have the XT350 service manual either. I tried finding a wiring diagram in my resources with negative results. Check your local library for a loaner manual.

The problem may be a blown fuse, defective relay, defective signal switch, poor or no ground connection, corroded or defective connectors, chafed/shorted wiring, or other.

Look for the turn signal relay under the fuel tank.
