MG Car Repair: 77 midget cooling system overflow, oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge

Question
I have a 77 midget that after running for 15 minutes and gets warm, the cooling/radiator fluid spills out from the small opening on the water pump.  I have replaced the water pump, but fluid continues to come out?  Any ideas?

Also, oil temperature gauge is not registering.  Any relationship to the water problem? Water temp. gauge does work.

Answer
Hi Ray,
The small hole in the bottom front of the waterpump is called a "weep hole" and is designed to expel coolant that gets past the coolant seal so as not to get into the bearings. A new pump should not leak there. If that leak does not stop in a few hours of driving, then you have received a defective pump.
Unless someone has added a oil temp gauge, you don't have an oil temp gauge. If you are talking about oil pressure gauge, there is no relationship between an oil pressure gauge and any other gauges. If you have no oil pressure you need to test right away as only a few seconds of running with no oil pressure results in major engine damage.
