MG Car Repair: 1976 mg midget electrical, fuse box, test light

Question
Howard , this is a related two parter.  right turn signal is on all the time. thought it was the switch, which was obvisously broken. disconected and removed the switch and right turn signal still blinks. part 2 fuse box wiring seems to match the full color wiring diagram that i am using,(prosperos) but where the red wires are connected side by side, with one red and green  wire on the oposite side of the box there is no connection between the terminals.  at the other end of the fuse box two of the terminals are connected with a flat strap. should the red wires go there??????????? car runs well, ignition light works, wipers work, no head light, running lights, brake lite switch has power, but no light.

Answer
Hi Jim,
If the right turn signal is on all the time even with the switch removed it is obvious that you have some wires plugged in wrong somewhere. So it is just a simple matter of taking your wiring diagram and a test light and trace from the light that is on back to what ever the power source is that is powering it.
Trying to figure out what wires are connected at a fuse box at this point is a waste of time. Start with one circuit that is not operating correctly (right turn signal) and trace that circuit ONLY until it is corrected then if something else is not right do it the same way and you will soon correct everything.
Any problem in electrics should be corrected by tracing ONLY one circuit at a time and never try to guess what might be wrong.
