MG Car Repair: 75 mgb hard to start when engine hot, charcoal canister, vent hose

Question
thanks for your speedy reply Howard. followed your suggestions and found: compression normal and uniform, fire is strong, fuel pressure just below 3 PSI. Plugs were dry and tried starter fluid but no help. After staring @ carb till my eyes were red, here's what i noticed-There are 2 stems coming off the carb body on the throttle side. Inside one seems to be a fuel vapor valve and outside seems to be for fuel overflow. Overflow valve is connected by a hose to charcoal cannister and fuel vapor valve is connected to what I think is the valve/oil seperator.WHAT? I disconnected this and it starts a lot easier. How are these hoses supposed to be hooked up? Also,Gulp valve hose is capped off. thanks again for your help and my next question may be coming to you from the local mental hospital.

Answer
Steve, the float chamber vent pipe is suppose to go to the charcoal canister to vent fuel vapor to the canister and to receive vacuum also from the anti dieseling valve when the engine is turned off so no fuel can exit the jet. The only other pipe on the right side is a large pipe that connects to the crankcase vent hose. There is one more on the back top of the carburetor and it goes to the EGR valve.
Other than the fuel line pipe on the left there is no other pipes on the carb.
