Military Vehicle Repair: winch, volt system, battery cables

Van,bought a new electric winch today for a really good price. Got any idea how to hook up the battery cables on it to a 24 volt system? Thanks

Connect the ground cable to the frame.
Connect the red, or hot cable to the Pos cable of the front battery.
You can also connect to the other end of the cable which goes from the front battery to the rear battery if the bolt and cable end work better, since electrically, that is the same as connecting like I said above.
That is 12 volts.

I would use the end on the front battery if possible, because you eliminate the voltage drop of that cable between the batteries.
