Military Vehicle Repair: cucv 1008, cucv, stock suspension

Question
Van,
Just bought a '86 cucv 1008. Looks like a great truck. Tough and heavy duty!!! This truck has 235/75R16's under it now and I want to put larger tires under stock suspension. You know what the largest size 16" tire will work? I want larger tires to drop the rpm's some for drivability until I can afford to put a small lift kit and something like 35's under it. I don't want to change out the 4.56 gears though. Also, is the front diff a posi unit? Man, I'm dying to learn all I can about these things!!! Great trucks!!!
Thanks!!!

Answer
Hi Mike,
No posi on the front end.

I think LT 285/85R16's will fit eight in.

The rear diff is probably a locker.

The electric system, although it looks complex, is really not. Write when you have questions. Those are 100 amp 12 volt alternators.
