Military Vehicle Repair: Fuel Filters/ Vapor lock, vapor lock, army base

Question
I have a '83 Military blazer 6.2L 4X4. 50K miles.
Many parts were removed (stolen) by the time I picked it up from the Army base. OK....Got it running and ran great for about 400 miles or so, now spits and sputters at speeds above 25-30 mph.
Maybe I should replace my fuel filter (Wix 33130)
When I remove and replace with new , will I have a hard time restating because of air? Other suggestions for poor runnig conditions.

Answer
Yes I would do a good tuneup on it, Replace the fuel filter. These are real easy to bleed the air out of. after you replace the filter, on the top of the filter housing there is a black knob, should have a hose hooked to it, this is your bleeder, open that knob up,and crank the engine until fuel constantly flows out of the hose in the drain pan, then close the knob. it helps if you have help one person to crank the engine the other to close off the valve when fuel runs out. sorry for the delay, had computer issues.
