Mitsubishi Repair: mitsubishi galant timing belt and valves, internal engine components, mitsubishi galant

Question
ok when i was coming to a stop my timing belt broke and i am concerned that my valves may be damaged what is the likely hood that i messed my valves up considering i was coming to a stop and my foot was off the gas when the belt broke

Answer
Chelsea,
The likely hood is still pretty high that you caused some damage to the valves, though may have minimized damage to the surrounding internal engine components.  Your mechanic should do a compression and leakdown test to check the integrity of the head gasket and valve seals.
Good luck!
