Mitsubishi Repair: 2003 Montero Sport Brake Light Inop, montero sport, voltage drop

Question
2003 Montero Sport LS 4 Wheel Drive, Automatic.  When the brake pedal is press, the driver's side brake light does not illuminate.  The bulb works when the lights are turned on so it's the bulb is good.  However it does not increase in intensity when the brake pedal is pressed or illuminate at all when the vehicle lights are off.  The fuse is good and the bulb works normally when placed in the socket on the passenger side.

Answer
Brian,
It sounds like there may be a problem with the circuit at the socket or perhaps with the wiring harness somewhere at the circuit junction.  The best way to diagnose where in the circuit is to trace it with a voltmeter and see where the voltage drop is occurring.  If you're not comfortable with testing this yourself, have your mechanic inspect it for you.
Good luck!
