Mitsubishi Repair: 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT radio, mitsubishi eclipse gt, mitsu eclipse

Question
The radio and clock display in my 2002 Mitsu Eclipse GT does not work. There seems to be no power to the clock display and to the radio. I have looked at the fuses that the manual says are for audio, both under the hood and in the dash and neither seem to be blown at all. There seems to be no place for a fuse in the back of the deck, which is the original factory radio. I'm not sure if there is a missin relay because my friend had my car for a year. I would greatly appreciate help, as the service manual has not listed any troubleshooting procedures.

Answer
Joey,
There are a number of site where you can get the pin diagram for the factory radio for your car.  You can simply pull out your radio and connect a 12V power source (like your battery) and ground cables to the appropriate pins to the radio and see if it turns on.  There should be a +12V constant pin, a +12V ignition pin, and a ground pin.  Those are the only pins that need to be connect to the positive battery cable and a ground connection in order see if the radio powers up.  If it will not power up after that direct power test, then the radio itself may be dead.  There are literally hundreds of options of aftermarket stereos that can be installed in your car.  So if you need a new radio, the hardest part will be choosing which one you want.
Good luck!
