Mitsubishi Repair: gsr faulty motor, pvc valve, intake components

Question
I have a 93 mirage with a 1.8 gsr dohc turbo engine in it, and recently the revs have been dropping so low that the car turns off. I have disconnected the gauge and found that it could hold its revs for about a minute or so but when throttle was used, revs would drop so low it would turn off. I left it, and tried to start it again next day and it won't even start now. The day before I ran a few tests and noticed an 'air leak' coming from around the throttle body area but couldn't pin point it. I was just wandering if you know what it could be? Cheers.

Answer
Grace,
There is a number things that could be happening.  A bad seal on the throttle body connection, bad ERG valve, bad ISC motor, blown PVC valve could all be contributing to this.  There are several components in that area for air intake, and if any are leaking air, your idle will indeed not be correct and can cause a stall.  You may want to have a mechanic inspect the air intake components and see if they detect the problem area.
Good luck!
