I have an 01 mitsubishi montero xls that i just purchased. my stereo needs a code tho, does anyone know it or any way around it?

Unless the previous owner provided you the code (maybe they wrote it down in the owners manual), then the only place you can get it from would be the dealership service department.  The other alternative would be to replace the entire unit with an aftermarket radio.
