Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsubishi Pajero 1990 (NG) radiator overflow, mitsubishi pajero, coolant system

Question
The radiator overflow resvoir fills up (radiator loses between 1.5 to 2 litres) after a 30 kilometre drve.  When the radiator cools it does not suck the fluid back.  Local mechanic has checked the connecting pipe and says it is clear.  When the vehicle recently did 200 km it still only took 2 litres to refill the radiator.

Answer
Kerry,
Your thermostat may be stuck closed or there may be a clog in your radiator.  The thermostat is relatively inexpensive to replace, and if it has never been replaced before, it should be checked.  Your mechanic should also be able to pressure test your coolant system and detect if there is a clog somewhere.
Good luck!
